Plugin: IG QuickBooks Export (standalone add-on, does not touch Invoice General’s core files)
1. Install
- WordPress → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin → select
ig-quickbooks-export.zip→ Activate. - A “QuickBooks Export” submenu appears inside the Invoice General menu.
2. Export Customers (always first)
- Go to Invoice General → QuickBooks Export.
- Click “Download Customers.csv”.
- Save the file.
3. Import Customers into QuickBooks Online
- In QBO: Sales → Customers → Import (⋮ menu, top right).
- Upload
Customers.csv. - QBO will ask you to match columns — it usually detects them automatically from the header names. Double-check Billing address, since QBO may ask you to confirm the format (separate street/city/state).
- Import.
4. Export Invoices
- Go back to QuickBooks Export.
- (Optional) filter by issue date range and/or status.
- Click “Download Invoices.csv”.
⚠️ Only documents of type Invoice are exported — Estimates are excluded.
5. Import Invoices into QuickBooks Online
- In QBO: Sales → Invoices → Import.
- Upload
Invoices.csv. - Match columns if QBO doesn’t do it automatically.
- Import.
Important notes
- The customer name is identical in both files (company name, or first+last name if no company) — this is how QBO matches invoice↔customer automatically. That’s why Customers must always be imported first.
- Tax on each invoice (if applicable) appears as its own line item called “Sales Tax”.
- This plugin does not connect to QuickBooks and does not send anything automatically — it only generates the CSV for you to upload manually.
- It doesn’t modify or delete any Invoice General data — read-only.
